Chapter 3
She paused. Sounded embarrassed. "I keep getting pushed into Cora. It's weird. And I don't want to wake her up."
Cora's heart jumped. She almost sat up to stop it. Then thought about the humiliation. Forced herself to stay frozen.
Reid's gaze brushed over her. Featherlight. It sent a tingle down her spine. She pressed her thighs together without thinking.
Reid stayed quiet for two seconds. Then said flat, "Okay."
They started shifting.
A chill ran up Cora's neck. She kept her eyes half-shut, breathing slow. Pretended to be groggy. Like she'd just been woken and was already drifting off. She quickly rolled over.
No one turned on the light.
Margot's head hit the pillow and she was out cold. Two rounds plus the long day knocked her out fast. Her breathing went deep and long almost immediately.
Reid didn't lie down right away.
He turned and listened to Margot for a minute. Made sure she was fully out. Then he slowly turned to face Cora.
Cora had just "unconsciously" rolled over. Now she faced the wall. Her back fully exposed to him. She curled up small. Slowed her breathing. Pretended to be asleep again.
Fabric rustled behind her.
Reid moved in close. Warm breath puffed against the back of her neck first. Then his hand slipped under her sleep shirt. Found her breast. Started rubbing without hesitation.
Cora's lashes fluttered.
She bit down hard on her lip. Forced every sound back. The hand knew exactly what it was doing. Steady. Unhurried. Landing on the spots that made her weak every single time. His other hand followed. Slid into her sleep pants. Pressed right over her soaked underwear.
Cora's body went rigid for a second.
Reid felt it. Paused. Let out a soft chuckle. Then pressed harder. Rubbed back and forth through the fabric.
Cora buried her face in the pillow. Jaw clenched so tight it hurt.
She couldn't move. Couldn't make a sound. And she sure as hell couldn't let him know she was awake.
Otherwise she'd have to face the shame of what she'd heard. And worse—face Margot.
But her body's response couldn't lie. She softened bit by bit against her will.
The hand worked over her for a long time. From her chest down lower. Reading every single response. Reid never spoke. His actions made it clear. He knew she was awake. And he knew she wouldn't fight back.
She didn't know how long it lasted.
Eventually the hand withdrew. Slowly. Reid settled behind her again. His breathing gradually evened out.
Cora didn't dare close her eyes all the way.
The wall was right there. She stared at the dark. Heart pounding. The heat he'd stirred up still burned in her body. Shame kept rising in waves.
Hold on until morning. That's all she had to do.
But the breath behind her stayed pressed against her back.
The whole time.
