Chapter 2
She forced her breathing to stay even. Didn't let her eyelids twitch.
The gaze lingered a few seconds. Then vanished.
Cora stayed frozen. Kept her breaths shallow and controlled. Afraid to give anything away.
Beside her, Margot's breathing was a mess. Her body curled soft against Reid. Barely moving a finger. Reid asked her something low. She mumbled back. Voice shot.
Cora thought it was over. Started to relax.
Then the bed rocked again.
Reid wasn't done. He moved over Margot again. Slower this time. Deeper. Margot made weak sounds. Almost a complaint. But she didn't stop him. Cora heard everything. Her fingers tightened under the sheet.
Reid pushed harder.
Margot kept getting pressed into Cora. Body against body. Chest to chest. Breath hot on Cora's neck. Cora stayed rigid. Kept pretending.
Then a hand came over.
Not Margot's.
It had been resting on Margot's waist. During one thrust it slid past her. Landed right on Cora's breast through her sleep shirt.
Cora went completely still.
The hand didn't pull back. Gave a light squeeze. Testing. She didn't move, so it squeezed harder. Palm covered her fully. Thumb dragged across her nipple. It was already hard.
Cora almost lost her breath.
Reid kept thrusting while he rubbed her through the fabric. Bold. Nothing accidental. He even pinched her nipple and twisted. Light. On purpose.
Cora bit her lip so hard she tasted blood. Didn't make a sound.
She wanted to shove him away. Roll over. But one thought cut through.
Don't wake up.
Margot was right there. One sign she was conscious and everything would fall apart.
So she kept pretending.
Eyes shut tight. Body locked. Breathing forced flat.
The hand on her breast grew bolder. Every pass reminded her he already knew something was wrong.
Then Margot's voice went soft. Heavy with sleep. The second round finally ended. Reid slowed. His hand pulled back like nothing happened. Settled around Margot again.
Room went quiet.
Sweat soaked Cora's back. Shame and panic clogged her chest. And the body's honest response. No matter how hard she tried, it wouldn't go away.
She heard Margot mumble weak. "…So tired."
Reid answered low.
Margot rested a few minutes. Then spoke again. Voice still shot.
"You take the middle."
