Chapter 2
Isolde’s POV
“Get out…”
The words scrape out of me, my teeth clamped so hard on my lower lip that I taste blood. My voice is shaking so bad it barely sounds like mine.
Caden doesn’t even pretend to listen.
One long leg swings inside. The heavy door slams shut behind him with a solid thunk. His thumb hits the button on the armrest. Soft motor whir. The black privacy partition rises, sealing the back of the limo into a tight, airless metal box.
Click.
The locks engage. The sound is deafening in the sudden quiet. Every last exit is gone.
The air turns thick with him—heavy, aggressive alpha scent that presses against my lungs. I scramble toward the opposite door, fists full of expensive silk, yanking the skirt down like I can somehow hide the dark, wet stain spreading across the leather.
It’s so fucking humiliating. This ridiculous luxury car and I’ve already ruined the seat.
“Don’t look at me,” I choke out. Tears spill over, fat and hot, blurring everything. “Please, Caden—just get out. I’m disgusting. I’m ugly. This is—this is gross—”
His hand shoots out and closes around my ankle.
Huge. Burning hot. Rough calluses scrape over my skin.
I yelp, but it’s already too late. He drags me across the slick leather in one hard pull until I’m right in front of him.
“Ugly?” Caden lets out a short, low laugh and shoves his way between my legs. Broad shoulders force my trembling knees apart like it’s nothing. He pins me there, open and helpless.
I brace for the usual mockery. For him to wrinkle his nose and shove me away because of the way I smell.
He doesn’t.
He drops to one knee on the floor of the limo, leans in, and presses his nose almost against the soaked fabric of my dress. He inhales—deep, slow, like a wolf that’s finally got its teeth in something it’s been hunting.
Before I can even process it, he yanks the thin material aside and buries his face between my thighs.
“Ah—no!”
My head snaps back, skull cracking against the seat.
Warm. Soft. Then the filthy, relentless wet heat of his mouth—sucking, swallowing, devouring. His breath hits the most sensitive, secret place on my body and a current of pure electricity rips straight through me.
I scream. Hands flail uselessly until they find the seams of the leather and dig in hard enough to hurt.
It’s too much. Being held down, tasted, claimed like this. My toes curl so tight they ache. My hips jerk up against his mouth without my permission, chasing the pressure even while my mind is still screaming for him to stop.
I don’t know how long it lasts. My lungs are burning, every breath coming in broken gasps, when he finally lifts his head.
He wipes the corner of his mouth with his thumb—leaves a shiny streak of me across his skin—and looks up. That smile is darker now, hungry, completely unashamed.
“Fuck, you’re sweet.” His voice is wrecked, rough. “Playing the shy little mouse at home, too scared to even look at us… but your body’s been ripe for this the whole time, hasn’t it?”
I just keep shaking my head, crying too hard to form words. Shame and something hotter twist together in my stomach until I feel sick with it.
“The way you smell right now?” Caden keeps talking while his free hand goes to his belt. “Every wolf within ten miles is gonna lose their goddamn minds. And I’m not waiting.”
Metal clicks open.
He yanks the belt free and reaches for his zipper. I don’t have any fight left. I squeeze my eyes shut and wait for the inevitable.
Tap. Tap.
Two sharp knocks against the window glass.
Not loud. Perfectly measured. Ice-cold in the middle of all this heat.
Caden freezes.
I force my swollen eyes open and turn my head.
Outside, under the dim streetlight, a man in a perfect suit stands perfectly still on the other side of the tinted glass.
Eric.
